One of several B&W photographs I took of AUGUSTUS in Lisbon back in 1975 when I started taking photos of passenger ships whenever possible. Although my first photos date from 1970, it was only in 1975 that I was able to obtain a good modern 35mm camera, at first a Olympus, and soon after a Nikormat and the first Nikon lenses.
The year of 1975 was the last one for the classic AUGUSTUS, still doing the regular Brazil Plata sevice from the Mediterranean in tandem with CRISTOFORO COLOMBO. In January 1976 AUGUSTUS was replaced by the GUGLIELMO MARCONI and sold to Far East interests. The AUGUSTUS was realy a nice ship.
