The NDL twins of 1930 BREMEN and EUROPA

The first modern post-WW1 Atlantic liners were the Noddeutscher Lloyd's of Bremen sister ships BREMEN and EUROPA, two remarkable express liners that held the Blue Ribband contest and influenced the building of a new generation of national flagships, namely the Italians REX and CONTE DI SAVOIA, the French NORMANDIE or the British QUEEN MARY.
This colourful poster added a bit of plastic fantasy as the ships were never painted red. Both sailed in the traditional black hull livery of NDD. EUROPA survived WW2 and become LIBERTÉ of French Line, She lasted until 1962. Replaced by the brand-new FRANCE, LIBERTÉ was broken up in La Spezia, Italy.
